When: Sunday March 24th
Location: Rutland Sportsman Club
Time: 2:00 Check-in expecting to go to 4:00
Get your cars finished up and ready to race against your friends and against the clock. To ensure your child’s car makes it down the track, be sure it weighs as close to the 5oz weight limit. Also ensure the wheels spin freely. We also must insist you allow time for any paint or glue to dry so it does not impact our track. Please have your scout in full Class-A uniform.
Check in
Please arrive at 2:00 to have your cars inspected. We will inspect the cars and weigh them. If it is overweight (5oz max.) it will not qualify to win. We will have a scale and basic tools to allow you to remove weight by drilling out the bottom of the car. Our inspection scale is the official scale so be sure your car is slightly under 5oz or be prepared to remove some material.
How our pack runs races
Our track has three lanes. Some lanes may give a slight advantage due to how the sections of track are joined together. For this reason, each car will run at least once in each of the three lanes. The fastest accumulated times for the three races will determine standing.
If a car falls off the track for any reason, we will redo that race. If the same car falls off a second time it will have the maximum time added to its accumulated time.
Awards
There will be three trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers. We will also have metals for Kids’ Choice and Parents’ Choice award. A third metal will be the “Best Gas Mileage” award. This is for the car that is either the highest cumulative time or the car that falls apart. The Pack leadership will make judgement on this award. We will also have ribbons for everyone to take home.
Note: We will have some games for the kids and drinks. We will not serving lunch during the event.
